Russell E. Hallbauer
Russ Hallbauer is a mining engineer with 30 years experience in the mining industry. He joined HDI in mid-2005 from Teck, where he was General Manager of Base Metal Joint Ventures overseeing the Highland Valley Copper mine in central British Columbia and the Compañía Minera Antamina joint venture in South America. Prior to that, he was Teck's General Manager of Coal Operations. He is a past Chair of the Mining Association of British Columbia and past President of CIM and was recognized in 2007 with the Blaylock Award for contributions to the CIM and the advancement of mineral exploration and development in Western Canada. He also received the Pacific Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 Award.
