Directors &
Senior Management
For over 30 years, HDI has created and managed public and private mining companies that have generated exceptional returns for shareholders. The company's strength is in its people.
Throughout its history, the HDI team has embodied a spirit of entrepreneurship, technical rigor, responsible mineral development, operational excellence and commitment to creating shareholder value.
Our Capabilities
Mineral Exploration
For over 30 years, HDI has advanced dozens of mineral projects through aggressive, insightful and technologically-advanced drilling campaigns. HDI's team of geologists includes world renowned technical experts and accomplished mine finders, whose expertise is complemented by the group's advanced data collection, geological modeling, resource assessment and quality control capabilities. HDI's exploration programs are characterized by technical, environmental, socio-community, financial and project management excellence.
Environmental Science
As part of its Responsible Mineral Development ethic, HDI applies the highest quality environmental management practices to all exploration, planning, development, construction, social, operating and mine closure activities. A senior team of environmental scientists, representing a broad range of specialties, ensures that sustainability principles are embedded in every project that HDI undertakes.
Business Development
HDI sources and acquires high-quality mineral properties to explore, engineer, permit or construct, and advance along the development and value curve. HDI’s goal is to create value at every stage of the mineral development curve and seeks to acquire producing mines with potential for enhanced grade, production or operating costs, feasibility-stage projects, near-term producers, exploration-stage companies and high-quality mineral properties.
Project Engineering
HDI mining and process engineers have collaborated with external specialists on some of the most significant global mine development projects of recent decades. Professional engineers work with HDI project managers at every stage of development, from initial scoping assessments to feasibility studies, to project construction, commissioning and operations. HDI's engineering team’s experience includes designing and operating large surface mines, smaller high-grade underground mines and underground block-cave operations.
Socio-Economic &
Community Relations
In the 21st century, the ability to earn a 'social license' to build and operate a mine is a core competency that materially enhances asset value, whether a project is located in the developed or developing world. HDI's team includes sustainability and corporate social responsibility specialists, experts in socioeconomic assessment, environmental sciences, community and stakeholder relations, government relations, media relations, public consultation, and issues and reputation management.
Permitting
HDI has successfully permitted mining projects in a number of international jurisdictions - including Canada, Mexico and Africa, integrating domestic regulations with international best practice standards. HDI's team of permitting specialists coordinate expertise from a number of disciplines to achieve and maintain regulatory approvals, facilitating efficient transition from exploration to development, construction and mine operations. Multi-disciplinary permitting teams combine expertise in geology, engineering, environmental sciences, government and regulatory affairs, public consultation and community/stakeholder relations, among other specialties.
Mine Operations
HDI and its staff members (either as part of HDI or prior to joining HDI) have successfully built, expanded and operated major mines with a track record of stable and profitable production. Operating capabilities range in scale from large surface mines to smaller high-grade underground mines.
Corporate Finance
HDI has experience with a broad range of financing instruments and creative deal structures - including joint ventures, traditional project finance, convertible debentures, royalty agreements and monetization of future production (streaming) in addition to traditional equity financing.
